7 Sweet, Easy and Free Crochet Patterns for Mother’s Day 💐

Consider this your official reminder: Mother’s Day is just around the corner! It’s always been such a special time for our family. We usually gather at someone’s house for a big dinner, a few rounds of cards, and—more recently—a fun and silly scavenger hunt our dad started just for the moms. Now that Jess and I are both mothers ourselves, the day feels even more meaningful. There are so many amazing women to celebrate, and we love to make more memories together.

We love to celebrate our beautiful mother.

While a thoughtful gift card, a lovely dinner, or a spa day are staple Mother’s Day gifts, there’s something truly magical about a handmade gift. In my experience, nothing compares to the love and care poured into something you’ve created yourself. Moms, grandmothers, aunties, sisters, best friends and all cherished mother-figures or people in your life deserve something as unique and beautiful as they are—crafted with your own two hands.

I always look forward to gifting my mom and sister sweet little creations they can wear or display in their homes. There’s nothing better than seeing them smile—or even better, watching them actually use the gift I made with love!

To make your own Mother’s Day magic, I’ve gathered a few of our favorite tutorials for you to browse. These projects are simple, quick, and filled with heart—perfect for making someone’s day just a little brighter.

2. Sentro Twisted Headband

If you’ve jumped onto the Sentro bandwagon, this tutorial is for you! When we discovered this super cool knitting machine we literally could not stop making things. We’ve crocheted mittens, pumpkins (for home decor) and these adorable twisty headbands! They’d be the perfect accessory for your mom (or anyone, really) to keep those ears warm and stylish on cooler days.

3. Crocheted Scrunchie

How perfect are these scrunchies?? We personally have so many of them in our beauty arsenal! This pattern is very quick and easy—perfect for beginners. The scrunchies in this tutorial were crocheted with chenille yarn for a super luxurious look and feel, but you can use any yarn weight or finish! You could experiment with cotton yarn for a more rustic look, or fur yarn for something super soft and textured. These can also be done up in any colour combination to make it a perfectly unique gift.

4. Crochet Face Scrubbie

Another beauty basic is this simple face scrubbie! We recommend using cotton yarn for this for ease of cleaning and it’s the right texture for lathering up and scrubbing away the day. Make a few and give them in a pack—perhaps wrapped up in a scrunchie! Pair it with your person’s favourite bubble bath or cleanser and you have a cute, unique and totally personal beauty kit.

5. Watermelon Pillow

I know what you’re thinking: “My mom needs a watermelon pillow”. We get it! Look no further. Our watermelon pillow pattern is so fresh and summery, it makes the perfect addition to any room in the house. The tart pink and bold green make it really stand out, and it’s about the size of a throw pillow so it’s functional AND fashionable. You can use any yarn for this pattern as well to change the look or size. It would be a very cool giant chunky pillow in Bernat Blanket yarn!
